What is a crawlspace?
Your crawlspace is the space that separates your house from the ground floor. Often forgotten, your crawlspace is a very important part of your home since it often contains plumbing pipes, insulation, HVAC ductwork, joists, beams, and subfloor.
If neglected for too long, an unhealthy crawlspace can affect not only the structural integrity of your entire home but also make your home less energy efficient, allow for pest and termite infestations and encourage mold to grow on the wood, which can cause very costly repairs down the line.
What is crawlspace encapsulation?
Crawlspace encapsulation involves sealing your crawlspace to protect it from outside elements such as excessive moisture, pests, rodents, water intrusions and mildew which can lead to wood rot. Crawlspace encapsulation involves covering the floor and walls of your crawlspace with thick sheets of polyethylene plastic.
Once the crawlspace is properly sealed and ready, a dehumidifier is installed to control moisture levels. Let the BioSweep Southeast professionals do all the dirty work for you.
